These are my dogs. They are camera shy. I tell them they look fine, but they still look scared when I take their picture. hpim0025.jpg
What??? February 25, 2008
I am boggled by the language I need to succeed in this class. Codes, files, configuration, templates, toggle, boggle, contextual selectors, feathering, formatting, hotspots, imagemaps, importing, exporting, lock, loop, layout, rename, reposition, resize, remove, rollover. I don’t know how to do any of it. AHHHHH!
A suggestion… February 24, 2008
I am finally at that age where much of my weekend time is being taken over by baby showers and weddings. This requires a lot of time and energy. Maneuvering registries, scraping up money for gifts. Luckily, I have found the stock present for baby showers. Found at a little boutique in Fells Point (conveniently one block from my work) you can purchase the Twilight Turtle. It’s awesome. It’s like a good sized stuffed animal, only it’s a night light that projects the constellation on the ceiling. Apparently babies and toddlers think this is really cool. I think this is really cool too. Yesterday I went to the store to purchase my fourth turtle as a shower gift, and I saw they had come out with a Twilight Ladybug! I got it and it went over very well at the shower I just attended. Now, if only those things could work as wedding presents too…
pictures February 16, 2008
Baby steps for me here. I’m trying to pull an image off the web and put it on this site. Lets see if it works…
Charleston February 16, 2008
I’ve decided to go to Charleston. I’m making my boyfriend go with me. I’ve heard it’s awesome. The beach, haunted houses, sweet tea, rocking chairs on porches. I’m into the South right now. They cook with a lot of butter down there, which is yummy. If anyone reads this, anyone that has been to Charleston, I’d love some ideas- where to go, eat, stay?
What’s in a Whitman Sampler? February 11, 2008
I’ve left this project idea to the last minute. I’ve decided to do a box of chocolates, with each click going to a piece of prose designed for each chocolate. My only problem- what kind of chocolates are even in a sampler? I know usually only one or two pieces are yummy, the rest bitten into and spit out immediately. I’ve looked on the internet but haven’t been able to find the names of each of these chocolates. Very mysterious…
The guy with no arms and no legs February 11, 2008
I always think about the guy that is missing all of his limbs, the one that panhandles on President and Fayette streets. I wonder if he has an assistant, someone who helps him get from point A to Point B. He obviously makes more money than any other panhandler in the city, but I can’t possibly imagine how he goes about things on his own. I assume he lives across the street, somewhere in that camp that is set up in front of the church. I wonder if he gets the spot closest to the camp because he is well respected, or if people take advantage of him. I wonder about all of this, but only sometimes do I ever make the effort to give him money when I am sitting in my car. He moves slow, and because sometimes I see his artificial limbs fall off and roll into the street, I am hesitant to stick a dollar bill out of my window. I am hesitant to do this not because I worry about his safety, but because it would be horrifying to watch all of this go down.
I changed my theme! February 11, 2008
Hooray! I changed my theme! It took me awhile to figure it out. Blogging is very new to me-I don’t even have a myspace account. I’m so excited. Not really actually. I’m going to go watch Law and Order now…
assignment-more websites with narratives February 4, 2008
This site is so funny. Just a bunch of pictures of cats with objects on them. There’s a cat balancing a coke zero can on his head, piles of change and dollar bills laid out across a sleeping grey one- I crack up every time I go on this site. Although it really is all about silliness, each picture has a narrative. Every photograph tells a story about a cat, it’s owner, and that owner’s sense of humor. So so funny.Visit http://www.stuffonmycat.com I wasn’t sure about what this site would be about- http://machineofdeath.net/a/The name is intimidating-I was thinking death metal, some sort of underground gothic sexual playground-but no, it’s actually pretty interesting. A group of guys who like science fiction and comic books got together and created this website. The inspiration comes from a comic one of the guys created. The website called for submissions of short stories that followed one theme: A few years ago someone invented a machine that could predict how a person would die by scanning a drop of the person’s blood. This person would simply drop his blood on the machine, and a piece of paper would print out saying- old age, or cancer, or buried alive. These machines soon started popping up everywhere-in malls, shopping centers, doctors’ offices . The stories all take this scenario as their lead. The website received 700 submissions and the editors are currently putting together an anthology that they are shopping around for publication. Very resourceful! I hope they make some money.
Electronic Publishing assignment 2/4 February 4, 2008
Electronic Publishing-Assignment for 2/4I didn’t know there were so many websites dedicated to stories! Some are pretty wack.I came across this website and although I wasn’t really interested in the stories, the site was rich with information. It’s called Spirit of the Trees, and it’s a collection of stories about trees (no kidding!). The site has a search engine that allows visitors to search for stories by selecting what type of tree they are interested in- apple, bannna, bamboo, birch, tulip poplar…http://www.spiritoftrees.org/folktales/story_links.html html
